Description

A two-piece set of decorative cottage-themed glazed earthenware, comprising a small pitcher and a lidded container. The pieces are modeled and hand-painted in a rustic style, featuring relief decoration that depicts a thatched-roof timbered building. The pitcher is designed with a flared rim, a broad pouring spout, and an angular handle, while the lidded container features a square body and a removable lid shaped like a straw thatch roof with a central chimney-style finial. Both pieces are finished in a high-gloss glaze with a variegated brown ground intended to mimic timber and straw, accented with white window panes and textured floral shrubbery in shades of pink, yellow, and green. No maker’s marks, factory stamps, or country of origin marks are visible on the exterior surfaces or within the pitcher.

Condition report:

Both pieces exhibit overall surface crazing to the glaze, which is a characteristic feature of this ceramic type (photos 1 and 2). The lidded container has a small chip on the lower front corner at the base (photo 1). No other cracks or repairs are visible from the provided angles.
