Description
Two vintage stone trinket boxes of circular form with domed lids and metal hardware. The first box is crafted from a cream-colored, translucent stone consistent with alabaster or onyx. The lid features a hand-painted floral spray consisting of a central pink rose flanked by smaller purple and pink blossoms with green foliage. This box is fitted with a brass-toned metal rim and a rear hinge. The second box is composed of a mottled green and white hardstone, exhibiting natural veining throughout. It is also fitted with a brass-toned metal rim and hinge and is elevated on three small, rounded brass-toned bun feet. No maker marks, signatures, or country of origin stamps are visible on either piece.
Condition report:
Both boxes show signs of age and wear. The cream-colored box has a significant vertical crack running through the side of the base. The green mottled box appears structurally sound. Both items exhibit oxidation, tarnishing, and minor surface scratches to the metal rims and hinges. The stone surfaces show light shelf wear consistent with age.
