Description
This group of commemorative coins, issued by Gibraltar in 2021, honors the career of Elvis Presley. According to the accompanying certificates of authenticity, each coin is struck in copper-nickel and layered in pure 24 karat gold with a collector quality finish. The obverse of each coin features the coat of arms of Gibraltar, with the legend ELIZABETH II · D · G · REGINA · GIBRALTAR · 2021 · ONE CROWN impressed around the perimeter. The reverse designs feature colorized photographic portraits of Elvis Presley from different eras, including his 1968 Comeback Special and Aloha from Hawaii performances. Each reverse includes a raised relief depiction of a vintage-style microphone and a facsimile signature of Elvis Presley. The coins are presented in individual clear acrylic protective capsules and include the original printed certificates of authenticity. One certificate identifies the issue as The Official Elvis Presley Heartbreak Hotel Gold Layered Coin.
Condition report:
The coins appear to be in uncirculated condition with full original luster and no visible signs of wear, toning, or contact marks (photos 1, 2, and 5). The protective capsules are intact. The paper certificates of authenticity exhibit minor curling and light edge toning consistent with storage (photo 1).
