Description
A turned wooden lidded trinket or powder box constructed from two sections of light-toned wood. The circular body features a natural interior finish and horizontal turning marks visible on the exterior walls. The lid is finished in a contrasting darker stain and features a central round wooden knob finial. The top surface of the lid is decorated with a pyrography wreath design consisting of four stylized flowers, resembling edelweiss, connected by stems and leaves. The underside of the base and the interior of the lid show no legible maker’s marks, signatures, or country of origin stamps.
Condition report:
The box is in good vintage condition. There is minor surface wear and small areas of finish loss on the stained lid, particularly near the edges (photo 1). The light-toned base shows scattered minor surface scratches and indentations consistent with age and use (photo 2). No cracks, chips, or structural repairs are visible.
