Description
A fine china teapot featuring a rounded body, curved spout, and C-shaped handle, accompanied by a domed lid with a circular knob finial. The vessel is decorated with the Palmers Silk pattern, which is adapted from an 18th-century textile design. The exterior displays a dual-style floral motif: one side and the lid feature a blue transfer-printed design of large blossoms and buds, while the opposing side depicts the same botanical arrangement in gold-toned line work. The base of the teapot bears a printed orange mark featuring a stylized V&A logo. Surrounding the logo is a circular inscription reading Fine China, © Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and Handwash only. Beneath the central logo, text identifies the pattern as Palmers Silk, adapted from a silk design by Anna Maria Garthwaite (1690–1763), Spitalfields, London, 1744.
Condition report:
The teapot is in good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs visible in the provided images. Light brown staining and shelf wear are present on the unglazed foot ring (photo 2). Similar minor residue is visible around the interior rim of the teapot body (photo 2). The transfer-printed and gold-toned decorations appear intact.
