Description

This set of English hand-painted earthenware features a coordinated design of vertical stripes and undulating lines. The collection includes a pitcher with a distinct spout and handle, a lidded sugar bowl, and three small mugs, each formed with a waisted body and a slightly flared, pedestal-style base. The exterior surfaces are decorated with alternating vertical bands of light blue and pale sage green on a cream ground, separated by thin, black, hand-painted wavy lines. Each piece is finished with a solid light blue glaze to the interior. The underside of the mugs bears a black underglaze backstamp consisting of the words HAND over PAINTED over by followed by a stylized cursive signature that reads Boulton. Below the name are the words MADE IN over ENGLAND.

Condition report:

The set is in good overall condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs are visible in the provided images. The hand-painted decoration and glazes appear well-preserved and bright. Minor shelf wear and darkening consistent with age are present on the unglazed foot rings (photo 3).
